Subtitle preprocessing
Automatically remove extra line breaks and bracketed notes, or merge same-time subtitles for a cleaner display.
Some subtitles are messy—random line breaks, bracketed notes everywhere, or several chunks at once. Preprocessing tidies them before they’re shown.
Three toggles
In the Settings tab, enable any of these:
- Remove line breaks: Join a sentence that was split across multiple lines. (On by default for new installs.)
- Remove bracketed content: Strip notes like
(music)or[laughter]. (Off by default.) - Merge same-time subtitles: Combine multiple lines at the same timestamp so they don’t jump around. (On by default for new installs.)
When it’s useful
- Line breaks make subtitles choppy and hard to read.
- Too many sound-effect notes get in the way.
- Several lines appear at once and it’s overwhelming.
