How is RikoSub different from the Netflix / YouTube editions?

Same core engine. RikoSub supports YouTube, Netflix, and Coursera; single-site editions serve one platform each. Install only one to avoid double subtitles on the same page. Start with Quick start.

Which sites are supported?

YouTube, Netflix, and Coursera. Prime Video / Amazon is not supported yet. See Supported platforms.

What’s the difference between free and member?

Free: Bilingual subtitles, Google Translate, AI Segmentation (free queue), dictation, speaking, and shadowing practice.

Member: AI / AI (batch) translation (plus Azure / DeepL backups), Whisper subtitle generation, Learning mode AI, and AI Segmentation on a separate member queue.

AI Segmentation or Whisper—which do I use?

  • Has captions (YouTube auto / creator, or Netflix / Coursera official): Use AI Segmentation for punctuation and line breaks (doesn’t re-listen to audio; free).
  • No subtitles at all: Use Whisper to generate from audio (members).

Neither supports live streams. See AI Segmentation for all three usage paths.

Do you support live streams?

No. Bilingual overlay, AI Segmentation, and Whisper all require regular (non-live) videos.

Is there a Firefox version?

Netflix edition and YouTube edition are on Firefox (version 121+). RikoSub is mainly on Chrome and Edge for now.

What permissions does the extension need?

Mainly storage (your settings and sign-in state) and permission to run on supported streaming sites. It does not read all your browsing activity.

Can I export subtitles?

Yes. When primary or secondary subtitles have a track selected and are fully loaded, you can download SRT. See Upload & download.

What happened to the Learning mode sidebar (Langforest)?

It’s been retired. Use Learning mode and Saved cards instead. If you still have old data, export CSV / JSON from the extension as a backup.

Is there a mobile version?

Yes, for YouTube only: mobile.netflixsubs.app. See Mobile.

What if Patreon doesn’t accept my credit or debit card?

Sorry—payments are handled entirely by Patreon. If Patreon won’t take your payment method, we don’t have another way to collect payment right now.

Can I use a gift membership?

Yes—we welcome it! Gift memberships need manual activation by an admin after you sign in. Message us on Patreon and we’ll enable it as soon as we can.

I’m pledging but membership still shows inactive

  1. Confirm your pledge is active on Patreon.
  2. Sign in with the same email (or use Patreon authorization).
  3. Wait a minute, refresh the sign-in area, or sign out and back in.
