Which sites the extension works on, which don't, and what permissions it needs—all in one place.
We focus on a handful of platforms that work great for language learning. This page covers supported sites and required permissions.
Supported sites
- YouTube — Bilingual subtitles, subtitle enhancement, Whisper (members)
- Netflix — Bilingual subtitles, plus support for image subtitles
- Coursera — Bilingual subtitles for online courses
All of the above are the desktop extension. For YouTube on your phone, use Mobile instead.
Not supported yet
- Prime Video / Amazon: Not supported at this time.
- Live streams: Bilingual overlay, subtitle enhancement, and Whisper all require regular (non-live) videos.
Browsers
- RikoSub: Chrome, Edge.
- Netflix edition, YouTube edition: Also available on Firefox (version 121 or later).
RikoSub is not on Firefox (AMO) yet. On Firefox, install the Netflix or YouTube edition instead.
Permissions
The extension only asks for two things, both needed for subtitles to work:
- Storage: Saves your settings and membership login state.
- Run on supported streaming sites: Only on the sites listed above—it does not read all your browsing activity.
