Subtitle reader
Have the browser read the current subtitle aloud—great for listening practice and pronunciation.
Want to hear a line’s pronunciation again? Subtitle reader uses your browser’s speech to read the current subtitle aloud.
How to turn it on
Press Alt + L to toggle, or enable it in the Settings tab. When it’s on, subtitles are read automatically as they change.
What you can adjust
- Voice: Pick a voice that’s clear and easy to follow.
- Speed: Slow down when you want to listen carefully.
- Volume: Separate from the video’s audio.
When it’s useful
- The video is too fast and you want a steady voice to replay a line.
- Shadowing and comparing your pronunciation.
- Reviewing by ear while doing something else.
Reading uses built-in browser voices—available voices depend on your system. For fuller pronunciation and examples, pair it with member Learning mode.
